Viva La France – Swirl, Sip, Taste and Learn about the liquid pleasures of Northern France taught by founder Susan Hesleitner of New Jersey Wine School (NJWS) which provides one of the best wine & spirit educational programs in the United States. They offer a range of weekly educational classes, Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and French Wine Scholar (FWS) courses. The Jura is a mountainous region between Bourgogne and Switzerland where only 4570 acres are under vines. This small region makes some important traditional and highly idiosyncratic wines. Learn about its soils and climate. Taste the region’s red varieties: Poulsard, Trousseau, Pinot Noir and its whites: Chardonnay and Savagnin Blanc. We’ll also discuss some of the regions famous wine and cheese pairings. Savoie: Savoie is an Alpine wine region south of the Jura very close to the French/Swiss border. Learn about its famous white wine made from the Jacquere grape. We’ll also discuss and taste Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir from this region.
